Chevening scholarships are available now. But there are few doubts coming in my mind: 1. Do i need to first apply to some UK university, choose some programe and then fill the online chevening application form and tell them the details of the pragrame and the college i selected ??? OR All i need to do is to fill the chevening application form and they will put me in college of their choice or with whom they are partnering for scholarships ??? 2.Is chevening program is only for experienced people ?? Are they given any preference in the scholarship ?? I just complete my bachelors. Please help me out in this state of disarray.

The Chevening Scholarships programme is funded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and administered by us. The programme offers outstanding graduates and young professionals the opportunity to study at UK universities.

The awards are made for one year's formal study for a postgraduate qualification or for a shorter period of not less than three months to pursue private study or research at a university or similar institution in Britain.

Chevening scholarships are not available to anyone who has benefited in the last three years from other awards funded by the British Government. In the 2008/09 academic year five were offered (the number of scholarships offered varies each year).
The scholarship includes:

a return economy airfare to the UK from any Australian city
all compulsory academic fees
monthly stipend
book allowance
thesis allowance
Candidates should have a strong undergraduate degree (emphasis is placed on applications with First or Second Class Honours).
It has:LONG-TERM(Open) scholarship - Candidates applying for this scholarhip should seek admission at LSE only.
Secondly, This scheme is not tied to any UK institution. Applicants must identify the course they wish to follow and the UK institution they wish to attend. It is the responsibility of the applicant to apply directly to the UK institutions of their choice upto 3 for admission before they apply for a Chevening Scholarship. You are required to submit proof of your application with your Chevening Scholarship Aplication form.If you ar offered a Chevening Scholarship the offer is subject to confirme offer of admission from one of your 3chosen UK institutions by no later than MAy of the year of admission faliling which the scholarship offer is withdrawn.
