I am studying in 12th now...I would like to know the scope of Biotechnology and which degree should be done in it (B.Sc,M.Sc or B.Tech/M.Tech)? I would also like to know the top colleges in India which would serve the best source for studying Bio-Technology?And also if you could also suggest some top colleges abroad? Also the college should be top in the matter of placements.

Scope of Biotechnology: Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary science based on Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Engineering. It refers to technology developed by modifying biological organisms to improve potency, efficiency, yield or longevity, as relevant. With over 100 Biotech companies, India is positioned at number three in Biotech industrial growth, just behind Australia and China. In 2006-07, India achieved a significant growth of 33% in Biotech industry. India is set to become the Biotech capital of the world in the coming years, owing to a sustained annual industrial growth rate of over 30% in the last six years. B.Tech and M.Tech are engineering degrees while B.Sc and M.Sc degrees are not engineering degrees. B.SC is 3 years course while B.Tech is a 4 years course.
