I would like to know that the PGDBA from SYMBIOSIS CENTER FOR DISTANCE LEARNING is valuable or not? Is SCDL is approved from UGC and this PGDBA is considered equivalent to MBA or not? What course should be done after doing PGDBA so that it will get equivalent to MBA and who offer for the same?

SYMBIOSIS CENTER FOR DISTANCE LEARNING (SCDL) is part of Symbiosis International University (SIU) which is approved by UGC (University Grants Commission) as per information on the website. In 2002, the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India conferred the “ Deemed to be University” status on Symbiosis, and further in 2006 the UGC vide its notification withdrew the word Deemed and renamed the University as Symbiosis International University (SIU).

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration is considered to be equivalent to MBA from job prospect by the Industry, however technically PGDBA is not equivalent to MBA. According to the University Grants Commission Act, universities and university-level institutions, including deemed universities, alone can award MBA and related degrees. The institutions outside the university system can award postgraduate diplomas. All institutions offering PG programmes in management should obtain the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). PG Diplomas in Business Administration / Management awarded by very few institutions are approved by the AICTE or recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as equivalent to the corresponding masters degree/MBA. There is no bridge course available as if now to make PGDBA equivalent to MBA.
