The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) has more than doubled its fees to Rs 9 Lac for over 400 students for the 2009-11 academic session, while doubling the scholarship fund from Rs 75 Lac to Rs 1.50 Crore per year.
The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) will be hiking its fees by Rs 5 Lac for students seeking admission for 2009-11. The fee has been increased for their flagship management programme. Each student will now pay Rs 9 Lac for two years. Students will now have to pay Rs 4 Lac in the first year and Rs 5 Lac for the second year for the Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management and Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer aided Management (PGDM and PGDCM) programme.
However, the batch of 2008-10 will be paying Rs 7 Lac. The decision was taken by the Board of Governors. Last year, IIM-A and IIM-B hiked their fee structure to Rs 11 Lac and Rs 9.5 Lac respectively.
Also IIM-C has planned to increase their Other Backward Classes quota (OBC) by 27%. The number of students seeking admission will now increase to 400 instead of 304 students.
The institute has also increased the annual body of scholarship for poor students from Rs 75 Lac to Rs 1.5 Crore. Families whose annual income is less than Rs 4 Lac will be entitled for the scholarship.
The IIM-C Board of Governors has also decided to increase the strength of teachers from 88 to 120.
