International Student Life
The Carrick Institute of Education endeavours to create a positive learning
environment, free of coercion, unfair treatment or harassment, in which students
can achieve their personal best through the provision of valid learning and
assessment tools and strategies that are most suited to their diverse needs.
Carrick Institute of Education has a fair and open Complaints and Appeals
procedure to address any student complaint or appeal and to provide outcomes
that are recorded in writing. It offers a Credit Transfer (CT) / Recognition of
Prior Learning (RPL) process to all applicants upon enrolment. The institute
provides information and support to enable applicants to gather reliable
evidence to support their claim for recognition of competencies.
All international visitors to Australia under a student visa are required by
law to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). Students are required to pay
for this cover before arriving in Australia. Students are covered by the OSHC
from the day they arrive in Australia until the specified cover expires. Carrick
Institute of Education applies access and equity principles and provides timely
and appropriate information, advice and support to assist students to identify
and achieve their desired outcomes.
Training organisations that appear on the CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of
Institutes and Courses for Overseas Students) Register are governed by the ESOS
(Education Services for Overseas Students) Framework. This encompasses the
Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000, and the National Code
of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training
to Overseas Students 2007. These laws are in place to protect overseas students,
and to uphold high standards of education within private Australian education
institutions.
