Established by the Bihar Government, Chanakya National Law University (CNLU)
has been set up on the models of law universities such as NALSAR, Hyderabad and
NLSIU, Bangalore. It aims to provide high-quality legal education and has
already started imparting the five-year B.A., LL.B. program since 2006 at the A.N.Sinha Institute of Social Studies campus
in Patna. The present campus is intended to be a temporary one and its new
campus is under construction in the 20-acre area in Meethapur area of Patna.
The new campus will house modernistic library, Internet Centre and all the
state-of-the-art infrastructure, facilities and amenities that are needed to

Students are evaluated on a regular basis through ongoing internal assessments.
It will soon offer systematic course structure for advanced and research-level
studies in all branches of law and offer LLM and PhD degrees in Law. The
university aims to promote legal awareness in the community and provide access
to legal education to talented students of Bihar. To achieve international level
of educational standards, the University provides specialised teaching on latest trends in national and
international law. The courses focus on analytical and critical thinking,
innovation, practical understanding and applied knowledge of law.
Currently functioning from A. N. Sinha Institute of Social Studies campus at
Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Chanakya National Law University will have its own
campus soon in 20 acre area in the Meethapur area of the city. An initiative of
the Bihar government, the first program was offered by the University in 2006.
Soon, the campus will be equipped with all the modernistic facilities and
amenities needed for legal studies such as technologically advanced library
buildings and the Internet Centre.
