Charles Darwin University was established in 1951 as the University offering the territory’s first adult education classes where supervised study classes were provided for apprentices, as well as typing, shorthand, French and subjects for public service examinations. Earlier known as the Northern Territory University, it came to be known by its present name in the year 2003 after its merger with the Alice Springs’ Centralian College becoming the only Australian university to offer the full spectrum of education options from senior secondary through to Vocational Education Training, undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs. Palmerston campus is set in tropical bushland within walking distance of
Palmerston city centre. The campus currently houses the VET areas of
Tourism/Hospitality and Conservation/Land Management. Campus features include a
state of the art library and Karawa training restaurant for tourism and
hospitality students, where you can enjoy a three-course meal.
