Established in 1931, China Medical University (CMU) is the first institute for higher education that was set up by the Communist Party of China. The university offers international standard programs in the field of Medicine, Natural Sciences, Surgery, and related fields. In the year 1976, the Education Ministry authorized CMU to admit foreign students. The International Chinese faculty is responsible for conducting the classes in English medium. Each faculty member has received English language training from the USA and Europe so as to overcome the language barrier. China Medical University (CMU) has the distinction of achieving a top rank among the top ten Chinese Medical Universities.
In the year 1976, the Education Ministry authorized CMU to admit foreign students. The International Chinese faculty is responsible for conducting the classes in English medium. Each faculty member has received English language training from the USA and Europe so as to overcome the language barrier. Till date more than 52,000 medical experts have graduated from this university. CMU has a current staff of 7,630, out of which 6,126 are practicing professionals specializing in different fields. With a total student registered student body of 20,287, the university has 28 colleges, faculties and sections.
The university has a 743,000 square meters building area. It also houses a huge library with more than 823,000 copies of study and research related matter. The university is of national importance not only for its history, but, also because it is a national consulting unit for the science and technology of medicine and health. It is also the northeast regional center of National Medical Literature Resources Sharing Network of the Health Ministry and the northeast knot of China Medical Information Network.
China Medical University (CMU) is also responsible for the sponsorship and publication of over 10 magazines on a national, as well as provincial level. Its laboratory animal center doubles up as the provincial center for animal quality control and breeds over 23 species and conducts experiments for academic and research purpose. In a bid to build its reputation and emerge as one of the top medical institutes in the world, CMU has established academic and research exchange and cooperative relations with over 46 educational institutes across the world, which includes South Korea, Japan, Russia, France, England, Canada and the USA.
