They also explore the harnessing of sources of renewable and sustainable energy. The first two years of this course are studied alongside students studying computer systems or electronic communication engineering. In the third year, students commence specialization in electrical power engineering. A new field in electrical power engineering is the application of electronics to large power devices. The study of power electronics and renewable energy is a feature of this course. Prior to graduation, students complete at least 12 weeks of engineering work experience during their vacations which helps them make their theoretical studies more meaningful. Graduates of Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Power Engineering) find employment with supply authorities, machine manufacturers and other large-scale users of electrical energy, such as mining companies.
