Diploma of Architectural Design
Currently available at Level 5, this Diploma of Architectural Design program is currently in process of talks for Level 7 with NZQA. The
graduates of this program can work as architectural designers and technicians for builders and government projects. They can also work as surveyors, interior
designers and landscape architects. They may also opt for further studies and gain Bachelor of Architecture for Auckland University, Victoria University and Royal Melbourne Institution of Technology and Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Lincoln University.
The course focuses on environmental, urban and architectural design in studio settings, freehand drawing, sketching, computer-aided designing and producing graphics, construction and relevant laws and regulations, project management and presentation techniques and internship experience. The coursework includes practical exercise, guest lectures nd site visits. In the final year, students are involved in a major design project, exposing them to all the aspects and disciplines related to architecture and the complexity of work. An exhibition is held where portfolio of each student is presented to prospective employers and clients.

Besides a good portfolio, applicants should have high school or an equivalent overseas qualification with English, Maths, Physics or Science and Arts or Graphics as the subjects. They also need to appear for the interview.
