The main campus of the Durham University is situated in the Durham City and
contains 14 of the 16 colleges along with most of the academic departments. The
Durham City campus is itself divided into several different sites:
Science site: Contains the vast majority of departments and large
lecture theatres such as Appleby, Scarbourgh, James Duff, Heywood and more
recently the Calman Learning Centre, along with the Main University library.

Mountjoy Site: Contains the Psychology and Biological and Biomedical
schools, along with various research centres.
Old Elvet: Contains a number of departments in Humanities and Social
Sciences including Philosophy, Anthropology and Sociology. It is also the
current site of the University's administration in Old Shire Hall
The Bailey: Home to mostly Humanities and Social Sciences such as Law
and Theology along with the Bailey colleges.
The university’s library holds a number of collections containing items
written by several famous writers. The Student Learning Centre provides support
and development opportunities for academic and transferable skills for students
at the University. This includes individual support, workshops and training
opportunities, work with academic departments and the provision of Personal
Development Planning and Work-Related Learning. The Student Learning Centre
works with students at all levels from undergraduate to postgraduate and
includes a dedicated Research Student Team. With its great location and
first-class facilities, the campus is also an ideal conference venue. It caters
to most of the events like residential and non-residential conferences,
