Durham University was founded in 1832. The University is collegiate and is located in the city of Durham and the nearby town of Stockton-on-Tees. The university is a research-led institution, valuing knowledge and learning for their sake as well as for the cultural, social and economic benefits they offer. The Student Learning Centre provides support and development opportunities for academic and transferable skills for students at the University. This includes individual support, workshops and training opportunities, work with academic departments and the provision of Personal Development Planning and Work-Related Learning. The Student Learning Centre works with students at all levels from undergraduate to postgraduate and includes a dedicated Research Student Team. With its great location and first-class facilities, the campus is also an ideal conference venue.
