Course Name:Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical) Course Description:The Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical) equips students with the skills to investigate, plan, design, manufacture and maintain systems and equipment that are used in all aspects of health care. The students gain a solid education in both Engineering and Medical Science. Throughout the course, there is a strong emphasis on practical skills and teamwork. Biomedical engineering involves using electronics and computer systems to improve health care and health services to enhance the quality of human life. The program has been designed in close collaboration with industry in order to meet future development needs. Students gain specialist knowledge in key areas and an integrated tool kit of skills that enables them to meet the technical criteria required by industry and to engage professionally with on-going technical developments. The first year of this program is similar to the first year of our other Engineering programs allowing students to transfer between disciplines with minimal loss of time. The institute has close relationships with a number of private sector and government organizations and all students undertake Flinders' nationally recognized 20 week industry placement.
