The Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) prepares students for a career as a Civil Engineer. Civil engineers design, build and manage roads, buildings, water supply and storage systems, wastewater systems, transport systems, and bridges while taking into consideration any social, environmental, and financial constraints. They are responsible for the infrastructure and resources that are essential for the daily functioning of cities, towns and rural areas.

The 1st year of this award contains studies in fundamental science and engineering topics including electronics, computer programming, mathematics, chemistry and physics. The 2nd year focuses on mechanics and structures, geographical systems, fluid and energy, geological processes and the environment. The 3rd and 4th years are undertaken at the University of South Australia's Mawson Lakes campus and include advanced studies in areas such as rock and soil mechanics, structural engineering, hydraulics and the design of water resources systems.
