Griffith College - Ireland

A designated member of the Higher Education Colleges Association (HECA), Griffith College Dublin (GCD) is an independent tertiary level education provider. The campus site is quite near St Stephen's Green and is located on the South Circular Road of the Dublin city. Sprawled across in seven acres, the campus offers academic and professional programmes in the disciplines of Business, Computing Science and Design, Law and Journalism and Media.

Griffith College is built on a historic site called Grimswood Nurseries. It was once home to the Remand Prison or Bridewell and later a male penitentiary called the Richmond Pen. Many famous people had been imprisoned here including Daniel O'Connell, the Liberator and his sons, Eamonn de Valera and Tom Steele. In 1887, Wellington Barracks were established here, where many Irish soldiers were recruited and trained by the British Army during the first World War.

Later, when the site was handed over to the Irish Free State, the barracks were renamed after Arthur Griffith. In 1974, Griffith College found its roots as a Business & Accounting Training College and together with the extended campus area, today it is the largest independent college in Ireland. The text books of the College are so reputed that they are bring increasingly used in other tertiary level institutions and colleges.

Internationally known for its teaching excellence and student success, Griffith College has about 8,000 students enrolled in its various courses that may be short-term, long-term, part-time, full-time, classroom-based or distance learning programs. With highly qualified and experienced faculty members, Griffith College provides recognized and approved programs to its students including the postgraduate programmes in International Business Management, Professional Accountancy and Professional Law. GCD has recently opened an office in Beijing.
