The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Delhi, established in January 27, 1959, is one of the seven primary Institutes of Technology in India which aims to achieve excellence in higher training, engineering and technology and research and development in science. Later on, the Institute was accorded the status of a deemed university with the authority to decide its own academic policy, conduct its own examinations and award its own degrees.

For close cooperation in the field of research and teaching, the Institute has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with foreign universities, research institutes and industrial organizations. The students frequently participate in national and international collaborative programmes in the field of scientific and technological developments. Presently, various collaborative research projects are in operation with the institutions in Norway, Sweden, Austria, Netherlands, UK, France, Israel, Italy, Germany and USA....

 

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Delhi Campus

The campus of IIT Delhi is divided into four functional zones namely - Residential zone for students, Residential zone for the faculty and other supporting staff, Academic zone for academic buildings and workshops and Cultural-cum-social and recreational zone for students. The Institute is surrounded with picturesque landscape and numerous buildings, presenting a spectacle of harmony in architecture and natural beauty.

The Institute's academic building accommodates innumerable research and teaching activities. The fully advanced computer lab helps the students in their various project works. The teaching staff have their offices next to the laboratory. The Institute accommodates large lecture theatres with modern amenities and equipment for sound and projection are located in the courtyards between departments for common use.
