Each year hundreds of students of all occupations, races, ethnicities, and of a wide range of ages from around the world benefit from the extraordinary education offered at the New York Film Academy. The New York Film Academy was designed for a new generation of filmmakers, screenwriters, actors, producers and animators who share a passion for motion pictures and want to learn by making their own projects in a hands-on, intensive program.
Filmmaking demands the integration of many kinds of knowledge. It is the integration of knowledge that distinguishes the New York Film Academy from many other film schools. Through its courses students learn not only how to operate a camera,...
New York Film Academy's film school has two facilities in Manhattan: the headquarters overlooking Union Square Park in the historic Tammany Hall building on Park Avenue, and the new facility located in the heart of SoHo at Prince Street and Broadway.
The Universal Studios location sprawls over 390 acres of offices, alleys, interior sound stages, and outside movie sets. New York Film Academy offers students the opportunity to use the finest and most innovative technology available in the filmmaking industry.
Students hail from all nationalities to study under the Academy's diverse and truly talented faculty. The professors are made up of NYU, Columbia, Harvard, Princeton, and UCLA M.F.A graduates, who have years of real world experience and are passionate about sharing their knowledge with students who share their enthusiasm.
As part of the Academy’s hands on curriculum, camps are organized. In all New York Film Academy film camps, each student writes, shoots, directs and edits his or her own films. Film camps are designed for people with little or no experience in making films. The programs focus on the fundamental elements of visual storytelling, which enable the participants to direct their own projects. These camps are often integrated, providing many one-of-a-kind advantages for the acting student interested in working in front of the camera, and vise-versa.
The Academy is not all about education and course work. Students may relax by taking part in many exciting activities available in the Big Apple. For dining, film, night life, shopping, and museums; the list goes on - New York ranks number one in the world. Opportunities for cultural activities are unlimited. For the film lover, New York is full of mainstream and independent theaters: films often debut in the city months before they appear in theaters in the rest of the country.
New York boasts many of the world's largest museums; all located a short subway ride away from the Academy. Students dine in the town of innumerable restaurants, explore the bars and clubs of the West and East Village, Tribeca, Chelsea, and SoHo, and spend hours perusing the many art galleries and bookstores that are scattered throughout the city. Some of the best musicians in the world, from jazz to alternative to classical, play in New York.
