The University of Otago, established in 1869, is one of the oldest universities of New Zealand. In 1948, the university was granted coat of arms by the Lord Lyon King of Arms, the Scotland's leading officer of arms. Sprawling over 100,000 acres of pastoral land, the university was authorized to offer education in the discipline of music, arts and law. At present, the University of Otago is providing courses in mathematics, natural philosophy, geology, dentistry, accounts, home science, classics and English language and literature, mental and moral philosophy, natural science, law, physical education and medicine.

The University has traveled from student strength of 3000 to over 18000 with the help of its world-class quality education. It is consistently adding programs with wide employment rate such as surveying, pharmacy, teaching, physiotherapy and medical laboratory science along with specialized postgraduate courses in numerous disciplines....
