The Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) is one of 20 Government polytechnics and Institutes of Technology offering tertiary education programmes throughout New Zealand. The Institute has a history of vocational education and training and is located in Invercargill, New Zealand with smaller campuses in both Christchurch and Gore. For over 30 years SIT has been providing students with quality education across a range of subject areas and at a variety of levels. SIT offers over 130 programmes including certificates, diplomas, degrees and post graduate study, as well as "SIT2LRN" Flexible Learning, vocational preparation and personal development courses.

SIT offers its students an innovative a Zero Fee Scheme - study without incurring tuition fees therefore, maximising opportunities whilst minimising the debt. SIT has around 13,000 students, so is big enough to offer variety and a student culture, yet small enough to retain a friendly atmosphere....

Southland is New Zealand’s southern most province and is a region of rich natural contrasts, beauty and wildlife, boasting quality tourist destinations. Invercargill is situated on the southern coast of New Zealand. Being the commercial heart of Southland a person can enjoy a variety of shops, restaurants and cafes. Accommodation and living costs are considerably less than in other major cities in New Zealand. Invercargill is the gateway to popular tourist destinations, such as, Queenstown, Stewart Island and Catlin’s, which are all within driving distance for a good day out and a return trip before evening.
