Course Description

This is a one year programme which allows the students to gain skills and knowledge that are directly relevant to working or further training in the mechanical engineering or fabrication engineering sector. The students will demonstrate knowledge and skills to standards required and recognised by the industry sector which would develop the working habits and practices appropriate for further training and employment in the mechanical engineering or fabrication engineering sector. This study can lead to an engineering degree or diploma. This programme has been endorsed by members of the Mechanical and Fabrication Engineering Advisory Committee which represents the local industry.

The variety of unit standards covered on the programme will lead the students into an apprenticeship and further training in one of the following fields:

  • National Certificate in Maintenance and Diagnostics (Level 4 and 5)
  • National Certificate in Machining and Toolmaking (Level 4 and 5)
  • National Certificate in Plastics Processing Technology and Plastics Engineering
  • National Certificate in Plastics Production
  • National Certificate in Engineering - Fabrication Heavy or Light (Level 4 and 5).
