This programme is specially designed keeping in view the increasing concern about environmental issues and it endeavors to offer the opportunity to study environmental management practices to a diploma level. The students are trained about the environmental resources of New Zealand and their management. This knowledge is applied to a range of practical environmental issues and concepts.

The Local environmental organisations and groups have played an important part in SIT's consultative process to develop this programme. Active links with these same organisations and groups are maintained throughout the programme. The students, after successful completion of this programme, can take up employment in the following areas - planning, advocacy, wildlife protection, ecotourism, environmental monitoring, regulations and compliance. Workplaces may include regional councils, local authorities, district councils, iwi administration, government departments, private consultancies and industry.

Entry Requirements

:

Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age, with a minimum of three years secondary education. All applicants should demonstrate a keen interest in environmental management and a basic competence in spoken and written English. For those students for whom English is not their first language, an IELTS score of 6.0 is required.
