Saint Petersburg State Medical Academy, founded in 1907, is named after I.I. Mechnikov., a renowned Russian scientist and Nobel Laureate. The Academy was set up by the Russian Government through the Ministry of Health. It is approved by WHO, ECFMG commission of USA, Medical councils of India, Sri-Lanka, Sweden, Ireland, Australia, UK, all the European and American countries.
Every year the academy attracts approximately 5000 students including over 1000 international students from 30 countries. Saint Petersburg State Medical Academy also has a 2000 bedded multi-specialty medical center known as Peter the Great's Hospital.
During its 100 years of existence, the Academy has come to be regarded as one of the leading education centers in Russia in the sphere of medicine for its graduate and postgraduate programs. The Academy through its contemporary academic curriculum offers specialization in preventive medicine and clinical medicine.
St. Petersburg State Medical Academy (Main Campus)
Saint Petersburg State Medical Academy is situated in the heart of the Saint
Petersburg city, stretching over 35,000 square meters. The academy consists of
50 magnificent buildings which are furnished with most modern facilities.
Saint Petersburg State Medical Academy provides two types of accommodation
facilities to students namely student hostel and standard city hostels. There is
a hostel, established specifically for accommodating overseas students. Saint
Petersburg State Medical Academy ensures safety of the students by maintaining a
monitored entrance and corridors, 24 hours reception desk and CCTV.
All steps are taken to provide a comfortable stay for the students. For
instance, all the rooms are well-equipped with separate kitchen, central
heating, furniture, toilet, bathrooms with showers and washroom. The academy
also offers special services and registration to candidates who prefer a
separate flat or family environment off-campus. On request, apartments with
special rent are also provided by Saint Petersburg State Medical Academy.
