Global Management Program (Certificate)

Course Description

:

The Global Management Program (GMP) has supported the development of MBA students' global mindset. The mission of the GMP is to develop future leaders with global mindset and a commitment to making positive change as managers on the world and its people. The Stanford GSB is an international community, with one third of its faculty and about 40% of our students holding non-U.S. passports. Both first year and elective classes draw on the global economy as a basis for the MBA education. However, for students interested in more in-depth study of the global arena, the Global Management Program, as part of the Center for Global Business and the Economy, offers an academic certificate within the MBA.

This program offers month-long global business internships during the latter part of the summer, placing students in 40 countries including Australia, China, Ecuador, England, Ethiopia, France, India, Japan, Portugal, Senegal, Singapore, and Tanzania. Its sponsors include start-ups, non-profit organizations, and global companies. The students can intern in a variety of industries including consumer products, economic development, finance, healthcare, nonprofit, professional services, software and wireless technology, and telecommunications.

Stanford-Tsinghua Exchange Program (STEP) provides the students with the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with future business leaders in China and to gain deep understanding of the context of China in the global business economy. The exchange involves a year-long collaboration on academic projects, a one-week visit by MBAs from Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management to Stanford, and a one-week visit by Stanford MBAs to Tsinghua.
