Kensington Campus
The 38-hectare Kensington campus of the University of New South Wales is
situated in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. The campus is divided geographically
into two areas: upper campus and lower campus. These two are separated mainly by
an elevation rise between the quadrangle and the Scientia building. The newest
edition to the campus is the high-grade Analytical Centre which co-harbors major
research activities for the Faculties of Science, Medicine and Engineering.
Australian universities typically have limited or no on-campus accommodation
for students. Students usually arrange for private accommodation near the campus
by themselves. All enrolled students have access to PC/MAC labs in their own
faculties. There are a number of general access computers available on campus,
in particular for free internet access. UNSW Library, ISS Student Lounge, a few
Union Shops offer free web access. Postgraduates have free access to computers
in the Postgraduate Computing Lab in the Library. The campus has banks,
pharmacy, convenience stores and newsagents, cafes and food court, health clinic
with dental practice, post office, hair salon and travel agent.
