The course has earned recognition in the computer games industry and its graduates are highly employable in the multi-million pound industry, evolving rapidly worldwide. The curriculum focuses on training in the latest state-of-the-art technologies used in computer games and related industries. The University of Abertay Dundee has close links with games companies, where the students gain practical training through project work or work placements. This UK program was the first one to be awarded Skillset accreditation in 2006 and will most probably soon be accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS) too.

The optional modules offer specializations in the demanding fields of Marketing, Japanese Studies and Audio. The students may also get the opportunity to work part-time in the International Centre for Computing & Virtual Entertainment (IC-CAVE), the UK branch of VSMMJ – the Virtual Systems and Multimedia Society of Japan, where they work with the Visiting Fellows from around the world, working in the fields of games, audio, arts, multimedia and virtual reality.

Games Technology

Applicants should have at least AABB at Higher Grade in SQA Higher and the subjects should include Mathematics or an equivalent overseas qualification. Mature students and school leavers are judged on the same platforms. However, those who do not have standard academic qualifications may be considered on the basis of professional qualifications, experience in relevant fields and other types of trainings that can qualify them for the course. Overseas students should have at least cleared Band 6.0 in IELTS with no sub scores under 5.0 or equivalent English language qualification such as TOEFL CBT 223, TOEFL 563 or TOEFL IBT 85.
