The University of Ballarat is the only regional, dual sector university in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. It started out as Ballarat College of Advanced Education, which merged with the Ballarat School of Mines and Industries and the Horsham based Wimmera Institute of TAFE in 1998 to create a larger University.
The University has six campuses, located at Mt Helen, the historic SMB and Camp Street Campuses in Ballarat and at Horsham, Stawell and Ararat. This makes UB a pivotal provider of post-secondary education for Central and Western Victoria. It has a total student population of approximately 22,000 consisting of 5,000 Higher Education students and 17,000 Technical and Further Education (TAFE) students.
It provides educational and training programs from apprenticeships, certificates and diplomas to undergraduate, post-graduate and research students. It also offers all the graduate and undergraduate courses related to Behavioural, Social Sciences, Humanities,...

Mt Helen Campus
Mt Helen campus, located 10 kilometers from the centre of Ballarat, is set on
110 hectares of natural bush-land and offers most of the University’s
undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs. The campus has modern teaching
and research facilities, library, studios, lecture theatres, student residences,
student union and outstanding sporting facilities. A Technology Centre also
forms part of the campus. It provides sporting and leisure activities including
an indoor swimming pool/aquatic facility, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, an
all weather athletics track, two gymnasiums, a weight training studio, dance
studio, squash courts, a canoeing lake and several sports fields. The students
can undertake a variety specialized areas through the university’s schools which
include:
