This degree programme covers the curriculum of level 3 diplomas in nursery and young child care and education and puts the graduates on the path to a career as a teacher, which can be reached by undertaking a one year PGCE course after graduation. The curriculum uses written, oral and visual media and an inter-disciplinary approach to the study of the young child, along with exploring issues such as disability and special needs. The students complete the degree course by undertaking a research work on a related topic of their choice.

Students applying for the course should have 180-220 points, based upon a minimum of two A levels or equivalent. Student diversity based on
ethnicity, backgrounds, nationality and education level are all considered for the course. Applicants without formal academic qualifications may also be
considered. International students need to have IELTS score of 6.5 or greater or TOEFL score of 650 or greater or an equivalent English proficiency requirement.
