University of South Australia (UniSA) was founded on 1st January 1991 through the amalgamation of South Australian Institute of Technology and the Magill, Salisbury and Underdale campuses of the South Australian College of Advanced Education. Since then, the University has come a long way, in terms of education and research. The University is dedicated to creating and applying knowledge; engaging within it communities and maintaining cultural diversity amongst staff and students. The University believes that education must be accessible to everyone. The research issues are local, national and international, with an expansive outlook involving collaborations, creativity, agility and enterprise. The two research institutes, Ian Wark Research Institute (IWRI) and the Institute for Telecommunications Research (ITR), help achieve this goal. These centers carry on fundamental and applied research, specialising in particle and mineral interfaces. ITR is one of Australia's foremost research organisations specialising in technology for digital wireless communications.
