Vancouver Island University,formerly known as Malaspina University-College was established in 1969.It is a public, degree-granting Institution that offers both University and College programs. The University is attended by over 10,000 full-time Canadian students, and 1,000 international students from more than 50 countries. VIU has formal ties and exchange programs with international institutions in countries such as Australia, China, England, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Thailand and the United States of America. Nanaimo CampusNanaimo is a city of 80,000 residents, located on beautiful Vancouver Island — a tourist destination blessed with the natural beauty of mountains, forests and seashore, a mild climate, and many opportunities for year-round outdoor sports and recreation. and Educational Centre (ASTEC) houses Malaspina’s Faculty of Health & Human
Services and programs such as Nursing and Dental Assisting, Child and Youth
Care, Early Childhood Education and Care. The centre also contains
administrative offices for the Faculty of Trades & Applied Technology, and
Information Technology and Applied Business Technology programs.
