Vellore, a district capital in Tamil Nadu, has long been known for its stately fort and temples. Vellore is ideally situated almost equidistant to the two most happening metropolises in South India, Bangalore and Chennai. The VIT University is situated in this scenic city. The University has facilities that are exceptional in every way. The environment-friendly green campus is home to a wealth of computing facilities and laboratories and several architecturally striking buildings. About, 12500 students, around 650 faculty and 700 administrative and technical staff live in comfort and work in a congenial atmosphere on campus.

VIT is the first educational institution in India to get international accreditations for its programmes. The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), United Kingdom and the Energy Institute, United Kingdom have audited the Teaching-Learning Processes at VIT and accredited the respective programmes. Students from a wide variety of social and cultural backgrounds live and study together in harmony at VIT and develop the personality required by the global industry.

Apart from the various splendid labs, a Language Laboratory meant exclusively for improving the communication skills with the latest multimedia facilities is available. Virtual instrumentation lab provides standard instrumentation software for all kinds of measurements and automations in academic research and industrial practice. An NI instrument simulator, a lab view developer, a pip control tool set, a sound vibration tool set and a signal processing tool set, help students simulate various innovative control systems and test them under different conditions.

The University firmly believes in providing its students exposure to national and international knowledge experts through regular national and international conferences/symposia and workshops hosted on the campus. A wide choice of modern conference facilities has been meticulously planned and incorporated into the VIT campus. Video-conferencing facility makes it easier to interact with faculty members in Australia, Germany, Canada and France, as well as other industry experts across the country and abroad.

Most of the schools are equipped with Smart Classrooms whose array of hi-tech equipment enable faculty to conduct classes in such a manner that students can copy every available resource at the click of a button. In this very special learning environment, a touch screen white board from Webster, projector, computer, DVD/CD player, Video Cassette Recorder/Player and Document Camera Reader are available. All these are integrated using a handy touch panel, which enables the user to navigate between various options of display.

The whiteboard from Webster has software that integrates all the functions and enables faculty to impart knowledge innovatively. It also acts as an electronic board: everything written on it can be saved as a file for future reference. Each class has a seating capacity of 60 and is fully air-conditioned and sound-proofed. Interconnection between classes is possible, integrating the cameras with the audio system so that both rooms have the same set-up to display the proceedings simultaneously.
