Nanotechnology is the buzzword to-day and has many dimensions. VIT has launched a first of its kind M. Tech in Nanotechnology in the largest demand area of Nano-Electronics / Photonics with enormous potential for employment in industry and advanced R and D within India and aboard. This is an interdisciplinary domain, with enormous potential for growth. The M.Tech program duration is for 2 yrs (4 semesters with last semester dedicated for project). The course coverts the following objectives:

  • Provides broad exposure to nano-fabrication, nano-scale device design methodologies and its characterization techniques.
  • Enables students to acquire practical experience in the preparation of Nano-devices/ Nanotubes, characterization using Nano-metrology equipments like AFM, STM and other SPM based techniques like Nanolithography.
  • Trains students to meet emerging technological challenges during this 21st Century.
  • Introduces students Quantum mechanical and quantum phenomena, associated with such device designs such as quantum confinement, transport phenomenon, SET and Quantum dots.
