The Waiariki Institute of Technology, established in 1978, is one of the largest tertiary institutes outside the university centres and is located in New Zealand. The Institute spacialises in forestry, tourism, hospitality and nursing programmes, along with many other disciplines. The governing body of Waiariki established under the Education Act 1989.

Waiariki is known for its high level of student support and prides itself on ensuring that the needs of its students are met with the provision of our excellent services and facilities. It offers a small classroom environment, maximizing individual attention and learning. Tutorial support is also available in many forms. The institution has strong links to local and national training and governmental bodies ensuring students obtain relevant and job-ready qualifications when they graduate. Waiariki Institute of Technology (Main Campus)

The Waiariki Institute of Technology is located in the heartland of New Zealand, attractive for its cultural and geological wonderlands. The city is one of the country's premier tourist destinations attracting 2.5 million tourists annually. Rotorua is conveniently located by public transport and private vehicle to other major cities. The city has a population of around 68,000, and has the largest Maori population in New Zealand, making it the centre of indigenous culture.

The Institute's special characteristics are as follows:

  • its campus is set in park-like Waiariki Environmentgrounds which provide an ideal environment for concentrating on the students' studies.
  • there is free car parking and no major roads through the campus, no high-rise classroom buildings.
  • the Library Learning Centre offers a full range of resources available for study needs.
  • the students will have access to computer suites to work on assignments
    outside class hours.
  • Café and restaurant – conveniently located on campus
  • Waiariki Institute of Technology Student Association (WITSA) membership is included in the students' fees. Run by students for students, providing general student information, campus social activities and all kinds of help.
