Waiariki Institute of Technology

This Institute's Diploma in Multimedia, Internet and Web Design is a 2-6 years' programme which aims to provide specialised training to the part-time students who are able to attend two classes or more a week over a minimum two-year period. Student will gain skills and an in-depth knowledge of specific computing areas. The diploma comprises a ‘vertical slice’ of the Bachelor of Computing Systems (BCS), taking the students to the highest level in this particular discipline. Students study six papers and finish off with a work experience component.

The papers at Level 5 are timetabled for six hours per week. This will normally be split between one 4-hour session and one 2-hour session. The remaining paper will be timetabled for two 2-hour sessions per week. Classes are between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm. The students should allow at least 14 hours per week for each paper, including time spent in class and workshops.

The students, after successful completion of this course, will gain the skills to take up occupations in the workforce in any of the following disciplines: Web site design and development, Multimedia design and development.
