Established in 1944, the Yaroslavl State Medical Academy (YSMA) is one of the premier research and educational centre that provides top quality Masters and Doctoral programs in the field of pharmacy, clinical medicine, as well as biomedical research. It also undertakes training programs for specialists in the practical healthcare, medicine and pharmacy. Besides this, the YSMA also offers guidance and training sessions for members of the academia (central regions of Russia).

Currently, the YSMA enrolls more than 400 students inclusive of overseas students and specialists. All academic and medical training are conducted in co-ordination with the 58 YMSA departments which are fitted with all the necessary equipment that meets the international modern standards of education, as well as fulfills the requirements of the daily instruction-delivery process. All departments have Internet connection that can be accessed by the faculty, as well as the students.
The Yaroslavl State Medical Academy (YSMA) started accepting international students from 1992. Currently, students from more than 30 countries that include Palestine, Pakistan, Morocco, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Greece and Tunis are engaged in educational programs from YSMA. Programs available for foreign students include:
Education in Russian language (with special preliminary extended course of Russian language)
Education in English as a messenger language (first 2 years) with the following education in Russian language
Both programs strictly adhere to the Russian federation’s State Educational Standards.
There are over 550 highly qualified faculty members in YSMA, out of which more than 400 have earned their MD or PhD title. Quite a number of faculty members are internationally renowned scientists and clinicians. The YSMA campus includes five hostels, student healthcare centre, sport centres, summer camp on the river Volga, and a garden of medical plants.
Yaroslavl State Medical Academy is located at a distance of 280 km northern-western from Moscow, Russia. One of the most prominent features of this Academy is its library which has been operational since 1944. This well stocked library has more than 450,000 books, with 240,000 volumes of scientific literature, 140000 manuscripts of study literature, and 18,000 each of foreign and fiction literature.
