 Which is one of the oldest and most revered professions? Yes, Doctors! At all the times Physicians have been highly valued in the world. We have seen that in India, they have practiced are allopathic and the native .Physicians and surgeons equipped with MBBS degree practice Allopath whereas the ones who have opted for BAMS(Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery) have been practicing The Ayurvedic and Unani . To add on there is a popular stream that is widely practiced, homeopathy for which the qualification requirement is BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery).Basic traits to become a doctor are the scholarly distinction and the wish to serve others. The exercise is extensive and demanding. One can see that that technology has too made its entry in this field in a positive way. There are some medical institutions which conduct an All India Entrance Examination to select candidates on an all India basis. Details of these colleges are given later in this chapter, which admit students on the basis of competitive examinations not requiring domicile status. OccupationGeneral Practitioners are indeed a very important part in our day to day living. They perform necessary tests by means of their understanding of medicine, diagnose the complaint and refer apt medicines. They also help in preventing the illness. At the same time they take care of the vaccination, mother and child health with educating them adequately. Medicine
There are various specialties in medicine like pediatrics, cardiology, dermatology, geriatrics, neurology.
Surgical procedure
Surgeons are directly responsible for the pre and the post surgery of the patients who need operations. Most of the surgeons have a specialization too.
  • Neurosurgeons perform operations after diagnosing disorder and injury of the nervous system.
  • Orthopedic surgeons diagnose and treat injuries and diseases affecting the bones, tendons, joints and ligaments.
  • Plastic surgery involves the delicate surgical repair of deformities, either those present since birth or those caused by injuries in later life.
Pathology
Pathologists look into the causes and effects of disease. Their work is restricted to the laboratories, supervising the work of other staff working there. Their specialties in pathology include blood transfusion and medical microbiology.
Psychiatry
Psychiatrists work with people who are distressed with cerebral illness and with a mental handicap. They work with a team of professionals with social workers, psychologists and occupational therapists. T

B.D.S. (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)
Dentistry is a very specific line of work. The duration is of 4 years followed by a year of internship. Admission is made through the competitive examinations conducted besides the MBBS entrance examinations. The PG course offers various specializations in fields like Periodontics (treatment of gums), Orthodentistry (dental care for children), oral pathology (diseases of the mouth) etc. The master of Dental Surgery (MDS) course is of 2 years duration.
Work AtmosphereEven though doctors work in a team, they deal individually with the patients on a day to day basis. It is seen that in hospital they form a team with other doctors, health professionals such as nurses, radiographers, physiotherapists and administrative staff. Hospital doctors work in a number of hospital departments, for example, in accidents and emergency, in maternity, in wards and in operating theatres. Educational Qualification:   Candidates who have passed 10+2 exam with physics, chemistry and biology are eligible for the MBBS course. Selection for the course is through highly competitive entrance exam. The all India entrance exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSC) admits students on an all India basis against 15 per cent of the total seats in all Medical and Dental Colleges run by the Central Government, State Governments and Local Bodies except in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. There are also separate Entrance Exams conducted by Medical Colleges affiliated to the Universities run and managed by the State Governments that admit students on the basis of state domicile. Medial Colleges in some states also admit students on the basis of their performance at the 10+2 level.   Career Scope 
  • Direct permanent Commission/Short Service Commission in Army Medical Corps.
  • Jobs in various state or private hospitals.
  • Private practice after opening your own clinic.
  • The Union Public Service Commission conducts Combined Medical Services Examination for recruitment to various posts as follows:-
    - Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways.
    - Medical Officer in Municipal Corporations.
    - Central Health Service (Health Ministry).
    - Indian Ordinance Factories Health Services (Ministry of Defence).
*Candidates are also eligible to sit for the Civil Services examination after M.B.B.S.
